Featured Scholarship - Voyager Scholarship

For sophomores or rising juniors interested in public service, there’s no other opportunity out there quite like the Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship.

Created by the Obamas and Brian Chesky, Co-Founder and CEO of Airbnb, the Voyager Scholarship was designed to help the next generation of public service leaders from all over the country experience the world and further their goal of making positive change. The program provides:

  • Up to $50,000 in financial aid to be applied during junior and senior year
  • A $10,000 stipend and free Airbnb housing to pursue a summer work-travel experience between junior and senior year
  • A travel stipend of $2,000 per year for 10 years
  • Opportunity to attend the Fall Voyager Summit
  • Access to a network of leaders in public service

This combination of financial aid, travel funds, and leadership development makes the Voyager Scholarship an invaluable opportunity for students looking to launch their career in public service. Without it, students might not have otherwise been able to pursue such opportunities or see and explore different parts of the world.

The deadline for this year is March 27, 2024. To be eligible, students must be finishing sophomore year in Spring 2024, demonstrate financial need, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrate a commitment to public service, plan to pursue a career in public service, be a U.S. citizen, and commit to the full program. To apply, visit the Voyager website or schedule an appointment with Lesha Greene (leg78@pitt.edu), Director of National Scholarships, or Peter Levins (pml55@pitt.edu), Fellowship Advisor, on Handshake to discuss where to begin.
