Invention: Where Do Good Ideas Come From?

COMMRC 1162 - spring course

Fostering disruption

  • 5 paid internships with the 5-day Humanities Center Faculty Seminar will be awarded to students in this class (Spring 2019). Get the chance to work directly with an internationally renowned scholar on creative thinking, as well as Pitt faculty.

In our innovation economy, there’s a lot of information out there about how to generate "newness"— but not all of it is correct. Separate creative fact from fiction, and discover how innovation happens in your field and beyond.

This course examines creativity scientifically and artistically. How should we understand it? What sparks innovation? What can history tell us about the origins of, to use the TED lingo, "ideas worth spreading"?
