Pitt students, alumni, and friends of the University Honors College established the G. Alec Stewart Book & Resource Fund after the passing of Dr. G. Alec Stewart in memory of his love of reading and to carry on his tradition of gifting books as catalysts and provocations for deeper thinking and reflection. The fund provides financial support to students actively involved with the University Honors College in the form of book and resource scholarships as well as to assist students with the financial expenses incurred in connection with advancing and broadening their scholarly interests. The fund also supports student-led UHC Discussion Groups like “Donuts & Dystopias,” “Education and Edibles,” “Pizza & Prose,” and “Healthcare & Law.”
Who should apply?
Intellectually curious undergraduate students who are excelling academically at the University of Pittsburgh, involved with the University Honors College, and who need some extra financial support with educational expenses.
About the Fund
The G. Alec Stewart Book & Resource Fund was established by students, alumni, and friends of the University Honors College after the passing of founding dean, Dr. G. Alec “Doc” Stewart in 2010. Doc’s vision, legacy, and insatiable appetite for learning live on through the University Honors College and the funds established in his memory.
