As Director of Admissions, Matt's primary responsibility is meeting, informing, and recruiting prospective students who are interested in the Frederick Honors College. This includes one-on-one meetings, conducting information sessions, holding open houses, coordinating the Frederick Honors College Ambassadors Program, managing the Chancellor's Scholarship application and recruitment process, and coordinating large recruitment events with the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. His secondary responsibility is collecting, organizing, and archiving Frederick Honors College student and faculty data for the purposes of assessment, reporting, and alumni engagement through the Office of Institutional Advancement. A native western Pennsylvanian, Matt grew up in the small town of Ebensburg, PA. He began attending the University of Pittsburgh in the Fall of 2006 and graduated the in the Spring of 2010. Matt holds a BA in three majors (history, political science and communication) from the School of Arts and Sciences. Prior to working at the Honors College, Matt has worked in many different fields as he began working at the age of 14. He has worked as: a groundskeeper, cook, painter, babysitter, library page, and a valet. So if you’re ever in need of a babysitter who can cook, mow your lawn, paint your living room, organize your library, and park your car, you’re in luck.
Matt spends much of his free time as an actor, screenwriter, and filmmaker. He has acted in over a dozen film projects and has written screenplays for just as many. Many of these film projects have won awards including Best Directing, Best Actor, and Best Film. Matt hopes that his filmmaking hobby becomes much more than that in the near future.
Beyond filmmaking, Matt enjoys reading, writing, learning, sports, video games, politics, and talking with friends. Some of his favorite authors include Albert Camus, Philip K. Dick, George Orwell, and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. He is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and he follows the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and the Pitt Panthers.
